Instructor Training

Qualifying as an instructor with Columbia will open doors to teach with all of our Training Affiliates for the qualified area(s) of your experience.  There is no other training agency with more approved courses and programs in the combined fields of first aid, CPR, medical responder and paramedicine – options for teaching are as broad as your experience.

Our courses and programs vary in length from 1/2 a day to nearly 2 years, so there’s no ‘one size fits all’ pathway to qualification.  We also recognize that instructor candidates each bring a unique mix of academic knowledge, work experience and instructor training, ranging from the newest first aid attendant to the recently retired career professional responder. 

We have built the following instructor pathways to address these challenges.  While we expect these to work for the majority of candidates, our ‘Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition’ (PLAR) process can be used to evaluate requests for recognition not defined below.  To learn more about the PLAR process please reach out to us directly.
